kinda fun to shoot a non referral family. kelly's a fan of my blog.

that's such an interesting way to meet people.

anyways- here they are- this gorgeous family.

i had no idea what they looked like prior to the shoot and as i stood on a street corner in prescott, az waiting for them, i had my fingers crossed TIGHTLY!

what a pleasant surprise it was to see that tall drink of water with his cute blonde wife and perfect little man walking down the sidewalk straight towards me.

and the best part- they were SO low key.

no fussin'. no fightin'.

this was their first family shoot and they were up for everything.

what a perfect way to end my az weekend. xox

i love this family.

britt has been such a huge support to me through my blogging/photographing adventures. she makes me excited to just do what i do. and i really love her for it.

it was fun planning this family shoot in prescott, az.

she'd text me pictures of what the family was going to wear and we'd both get excited all over again.

i appreciate her enthusiasm and energy.

she deserves that cute little family of hers. :)

what a fun trip.

i went to az in october to see and photograph friends.

it was a busy week- i crammed in a month's worth of shoots in 3 days. oy!

with my most recent move to south carolina, i've found myself surrounded by really great neighbors. what a relief. my kids absolutely love to play outside with the "big boys". another amazing thing- most of the mommas like to hang out on their front porches to watch the kids play. it's a dream.

i was asked to do a "floral" shoot for my close friend, karen bever, as she needed some pictures for her new business. BoKa (bo-kay) is her creation. she is, in my mind, the most talented florist in az. it was not hard to find a supporting crew to beautify these models with hair and dresses.

another very close friend, kerri metcalf, did the make up.

it was a perfect day up in jerome, az with fun friends each exploding with talent.

come to find out- taking senior photos is my favorite thing to do.

they're willingness and smidge of insecurities make for great sessions and photographs.

britt (the mom) is an extremely supportive and uplifting person.

she's been like a little cheerleader in my back pocket as i've been trying to figure out this whole photography thing.

it was awesome to FINALLY get to do a shoot of her and her sweet little family.

funny story-
we arrived in bumble bee, az for this shoot with about 18 minutes of sun left.
i only panicked for 37 seconds.
and then the most amazing sunset peeked through the clouds.
i think that's called luck.
oh yeah- and the family is so freaking cute- they were a dream.

i was deeply honored to have had the priviledge to attend and shoot the memorial service of one of my sweetest friend's father.
the distraction of photography gave me a completely different view of this tender event.
the things that were said about mark made me want to be a better person and live life as fully as possible. thanks girls for allowing me to capture these images.

things are a little bit different when i'm photographing my close friends.
sometimes i try out new locations.
in the ghetto.
where sketchy men follow us around in a sketchy suv.
but in the end, we both felt it was worth it.
and that i'm bringing a gun next time.

what do interior designers do when they're not hanging curtains or stewing over shades of green?

they design clothes and compete against each other in the most fun runway show i've ever been to.

with gowns made out of untraditional materials (shower tiles, carpet, drapes, vinyl, etc) and hair and makeup done by toni & guy, the IIDA SW fashion show was more fun than picking out hand scraped hard wood flooring.

and not for the cheesy cliche reasons.
my grandpa kesler was a fireman for the long beach, ca fire department and i was raised to view them as heroes.
this week i took some pictures of tommy reeve and his son, tommy reeve, as a valentine's day gift to mrs. tommy reeve.
the idea is to take a similar picture of them walking every year.
a cool way to watch little tommy grow through the years.

seriously, i fought every giddy giggle that wanted to surface.
